![]() This is the version of Kill/Stream that we literally fell into, as the latest generation of contestants are en route to the undisclosed location of the island, preparing to parachute out of a cargo plane. Over time, however, global economic conditions have seen the game show evolve into a more inclusive battleground, harboring online streamers and content creators whose eye is as much on the prospect of bolstering their celebrity status. Originally designed as a battle royale for the worst of the worst to compete for a $10 million cash prize, the show saw death row inmates turn into millionaire celebrities overnight. Things start off quite promising: It’s the nebulous near future, a world run and governed by corporations, and conglomerate Alyn Corp is set to live-stream the thirteenth season of its life-and-death contest, Kill/. Bloodshore is everything it reads on the label, though a lackluster story and boring, uninteresting locations make the game hard to recommend to ardent fans of the interactive movie subgenre. Even before fortnitethe meteoric rise of, the concept has appeared in other games, popular movies like the hunger games franchise and, of course, the eponymous 2000s Japanese film (itself based on the novel).ĭevelopers Wales Interactive and Good Gate Media attempted to adapt the formula to an interactive action movie, trying to combine explosive action set-pieces with a choose-your-own player agency, the latter of which was something that have had quite a bit of experience with it. Review copy provided by the publisher for this review.Battle royale-style storytelling is no longer precisely uncharted territory. *Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus? Is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. I had fun trying to piece together information to find out who poisoned Uncle Marcus and at the end of the day that’s all that really matters. ![]() The acting is a bit cheesy and maybe even bad at times but I’ve come to expect that from a Wales title at this point. Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus? Is a fun murder mystery FMV game that is sure to please fans of this genre. I ended up figuring out the killer on my second playthrough but I’m sure many others will do it on the first or maybe take until the third or fourth. You can also skip certain things that you’ve already experienced so that also speeds things up a bit. You also retain any evidence you collected in prior playthroughs making it easier to narrow down the culprit in your next one. A single playthrough should only take you around an hour or a bit more so it isn’t a big time commitment. If you do fail the first time around it’s no big deal as this game is one designed to be played multiple times. If you can’t, your uncle will die and the guilty party will get off scotch free. At the end of your playthrough you have to review the information you’ve gathered and hope you can accuse the culprit. Your time to interact with each of the family members can be quite short at times though so every second you get counts. As you talk with and listen to each of the family members you have to try to ask questions while you can to gather up clues and put them together to figure out who the guilty person is. The acting is quite cheesy but also somewhat endearing not unlike many of the other FMV games Wales has published. Many of them fit a certain stereotype like you have the aunt who likes to drink too much, a sister who is an influencer looking to up her fame any way she can, a cousin who is obsessed with death, and so on. ![]() He asks for your help in figuring out who it was during the upcoming quiz and to help find a way to save him.Īs the quiz begins, you start to get to know each of the family members and none of them come across as good people. Abbey gets a call from her Uncle Marcus just prior to the family gathering and he tells her that he was poisoned and that someone in the family did it. The whole family is preparing to jump on the call to do an annual family quiz but something else is afoot. This game was shot entirely in lockdown and so what better way to get around that then for it to focus on the family doing video calls. The game has you playing as a girl named Abbey who is just one member of the family this game revolves around. You’ll watch along and make choices at times which will then affect the outcomes and endings that you get in this. The core concept of the game isn’t much different from what Wales has presented us with in the past. Well it’s that time again as Wales and Good Gate Media have returned with a murder mystery FMV called Who Pressed Mute on Uncle Marcus? If you enjoy FMV games then chances are you’ve played some of Wales Interactive’s recent games like The Bunker, Late Shift, Bloodshore, or one of many others.
